Netherlands

Rowing and the Netherlands are nearly synonymous, as water is necessary to discuss both. The Netherlands enjoys a climate and culture that makes rowing almost as common as riding a bike. Youths and adults alike can be seen gliding along hundreds of kilometers of waterways in all sorts of crafts. The country defends itself from the influx of the sea, using windmills, dykes and other means, so rowing only seems natural as a way to enjoy the water.

Italy

As in many European countries, Italy has a strong rowing tradition. Youths start early in the sculling boats and become excellent rowers very soon. The balance, symmetry and non weight bearing activity helps young bodies grow stronger. But also the fact that the team is only as strong as the weakest link, makes everyone in the boat try their best. Italy, from the famous lakes north of Milan, to the central areas near Florence, on south to Rome and Naples beyond, has great rowing traditions. There are many locations to visit in this wonderful country, and after rowing, visiting and seeing some of the greatest works of art and architecture the youths will be amazed.
